Kote's collectors know the feeling: you walk into a room, and a painting stops you cold before you even know why. That's the effect he's been perfecting for decades.
This July 17th, 18th, and 19th, over 20 of his newest paintings will be on display at Ocean Galleries in Stone Harbor.
Josef himself will be on the gallery floor all three days – ready to talk with collectors, share what he was chasing in each piece, and help the right painting find the right wall.

The exhibition transforms the entire Ocean Galleries space in Stone Harbor into a solo Kote showcase – for three days, and three days only.
"Feel Free" is Kote's most personal collection to date. Every painting is original. Every painting is new. And every subject reflects a place or a moment he keeps returning to on the canvas.
Inside the collection you'll find seascapes and quiet harbors, sunsets breaking over rural roads, wooded scenes lit from behind by dusk light, Philadelphia's City Hall rendered in signature Kote color, and a single American flag piece painted in honor of the country's 250th anniversary.
Whether you've stood in front of a Kote before or you're seeing his work up close for the first time, this weekend is a rare chance to bring one home – directly from the artist.
